The SPIRITUAL SOLIDARITY AWARD is a yearly award offered by ADYAN foundation. Through it, ADYAN encourages and honors people who work and devote their life to develop and strengthen various forms of solidarity and unity between people from different religions, especially in contexts of tension and violence.

Pastor James Wuye and Imam Mohammad Ashafa were offered the ADYAN's Spiritual Solidarity Award for 2009, for being witnesses of a deep-rooted faith and confidence, in God and in the other, that makes Christianity and Islam forces of reconciliation and peace.
They received the award on March 27, 2009, in the framework of the official launching of the Arabic version of the film "The Imam and the Pastor" that talks about their testimony in Nigeria.
Imam Ashafa and Pastor James, today religious leaders in their respective communities, were initially leaders of opposing Christian and Muslim militias in Nigeria. Yet they both managed, together, to walk the path of reconciliation. Now they jointly work to promote peace in local communities across Nigeria through the Inter-Faith Mediation Center they founded.
