Euro-Med seminar with Anna Lindh Foundation
25 October 2009

From the 25th to 27th October 2009, the Anna Lindh Foundation (ALF) organized its first regional communication seminar in Malta with eighteen representatives from lead civil society organizations who are in the process of preparing transnational intercultural dialogue programmes in the framework of the Union for the Mediterranean.

The seminar, which was co-organised by the Anna Lindh Foundation in partnership with the European Commission and the University of Malta, aimed to ensure communication was placed at the start and at the heart of the programming processes related to individual projects and to support project leaders in developing and shaping communication strategies for their activities. The seminar constitutes also a preparatory step for the coming Euro-Med Civil society Forum in Mach 2010 in Barcelona.

Andreu Claret, Executive Director of the Anna Lindh Foundation, underlined that communication is put at the heart of the Foundation, ensuring that it is part of each program from its start. Thomas McGrath of the European Commission's External Relations  set out some of the challenges for communication, including the difficulties that have been faced in explaining and communicating the advantages and success of the Barcelona Process and the Union for the Mediterranean due to the fact that it is a process and not an event.

ADYAN foundation was represented in this seminar by its president and director of ADYAN understanding Program, Fadi Daou who noticed the richness represented by ALF Networks through their diversity and dynamism.
